This award winning new residential scheme in West Street, Wimborne lies in the heart of the town’s conservation area. The project included the reconstruction of a structurally condemned listed building to form two character cottages returning the street scene to its late 19th century appearance. Original period features and materials were re-utilized wherever possible. The remainder of the side was redeveloped to provide townhouses and flats.
The scheme sits comfortably within the historic street-scene in the medieval part of the town centre, enhancing a former brownfield site. Period and local vernacular features have been adopted whenever possible, including a distinctive curved corner – found widely around the town.
"I would like to congratulate everybody involved in this project on their success. I am delighted that our Building Control team was able to provide assistance to this project. Winning this award goes to show what can be achieved by a number of organisations working collaboratively on a project."
