The site is on a steep slope facing west over Poole Harbour, with limited access from the street. We proposed 2 dwellings taking best advantage of the sloping site and the views out over the harbour.
The houses cut into the sloping ground with accommodation over 3 floors. At the rear only the top floor is visible. To maximise views and bring light deep into the plan we introduced a central garden over which the rooms at the back of the plan look out towards the harbour. The plan is broken into boxes for rooms and voids for circulation, with double height spaces and voids bringing light deep into the plan.
The architectural language is very contemporary with large areas of glazing facing the best views, and white walls to reflect light.
