BELVOIR ROAD, BIDEFORD

The Belvoir Road site was formerly alottments on the edge of the Kingsley School grounds in Bideford. The site is very steep, rising up from a stream at the south. The stream poses a significant flood risk, and the proposals have had to work around this.

The design is for a series of townhouses in 2 blocks, following the line of an existing run of terraces on Belvoir Road. The houses are divided into pairs with projecting parapet walls.

The main living level is above street level, avoiding any flood risk. Access is by a grand entrance stair in front of the building. Gardesn are terraced up the slope behind, making best use of the available land.

The houses are designed as a contemporary interpretation of the terraced townhouse.
