Blandford Forum Town Hall Regeneration
Williams Lester Architects are pleased to announce the recent submission of a full planning and listed building application for the regeneration of Blandford Forum’s Grade I listed Town Hall.
A well-attended public briefing was held on Sat 11 February in the Corn Exchange, explaining this eagerly awaited project to the local community. The scheme includes the restoration of the original Georgian frontage, internalisation of the ‘Shambles’ currently an open loggia, rationalisation of the accommodation within Town Hall, and extensive works to the Victorian Corn Exchange to provide a multi purpose hall for community use. Also proposed is a new office building for the Town Council to the rear of the site, replacing the existing out-dated single storey building.
This exciting scheme has been developed over a number of years and has been developed throughout with the involvement and support of English Heritage and the LPA’s Conservation Officer.
Determination of the applications is expected in late May 2012.

Ravenhurst Planning Approval
We are pleased to announce the full planning approval of four contemporary unique homes on the sea front at Milford-on-sea. This has been a very controversial site due to it being located next to The White House, a grade one listed building considered by some to be the most important building in Milford-on-sea.

Completion of Christ Church, Westbourne
The contemporary extension to Christ Church, Westbourne has been completed on schedule.
The project combines traditional and modern materials to complement the natural stone of the original church.
Williams Lester have been involved with the project since feasibility stage through appointment at competition and have progressed the scheme through to management and completion on site.
Merry Christmas!
We wish all our clients and visitors warm seasonal greetings and a happy and prosperous new year.
Thank you to all of our clients of 2011.
James Brothers Site, Hamworthy Approved!
Williams Lester have just won planning permission for a development of 60 flats alongside Poole ferry port in Hamworthy for Matthews Developments.
The scheme comprises 2 blocks, each 7 storeys high. The plan is arranged to ensure that all flats have clear views over Poole Harbour , while most flats have the benefit of dual aspects. Each block is strongly articulated to create a series of distinct elements on the street scene, while the upper floors pull back from the edge of the building to reduce their impact upon the street below. The areas around the blocks are carefully landscaped to create a high quality pedestrian friendly urban environment.
There was an existing permission on the site for 44 flats in 2 blocks. There is now approval for an additional 16 flats on roughly the same footprint. This approval has added considerable value to the land by increasing the density on the site while also improving the amenity and quality of the scheme. The proposals overcome significant flood risks and highways restrictions on the site.
Williams Lester worked with Evans and Traves to achieve this planning success.
